About the Artist
Hello, my name is Solett. I am a South African artist based in the Zulu Kingdom of KwaZulu Natal. I work as a full time artist from my home studio in Ballito. My professional career was a rather colourful one starting in music, crossing over into IT, project management and now art- a likely result of growing up in a family where anything was deemed to be possible and art and music was part of everyday life made – there was always a piano open, ready to be played.
I am completely self-taught! During my student years I discovered my oil painting abilities and have not stopped painting since. I call my style “uncomplicated realism”. The subjects in my paintings vary quite a bit, as do my interests and inspirations. As much as I don’t like labels, the bulk of my paintings can be categorised as portraits, with my background as a musician and love for our African bush flowing through. Then leaving the best for last: I also love painting the yellows, oranges and reds of the Buddhist monks. This is what I paint for my ME. I love the colours, the calmness and serenity of these images and the colours of these robes are so pure, very little paint mixing is needed to paint these.
I do hope you enjoy the work I have presented!
Orders and commissions welcome!
The canvas and oils
All the paintings are done on professionally stretched canvas and are unframed. Solett uses premium oil paints to create these beautiful paintings.
Kindly note that colours may vary depending on your screen type and how the paintings have been photographed. Great care is taken to make sure we display the most accurate and realistic image of each painting.
