Getting a bit nostalgic today but bear with me. These are some of the paints I “borrowed” from my mother in 1991. I was a poor student in a small flat and wanted to have some pictures on the walls and coming from a family of DYI fanatics my natural action was to try and do these myself. My mother had always had a box of paints, having been an art student and creative soul all her life.
My first paintings were real basic and copies of other paintings, some of which still hangs in my father’s garage. Yes, he has paintings in his garage- why not?
In 2010 as I was planning the first of my two solo exhibitions, my mother passed away and she never got to come to one of my exhibitions. So in memory of her and my art beginnings, I had a couple of these tubes mounted and framed. She can now be at every one of my exhibitions.
