“Ingedagte” translated means to be deep in thought. This was one of those photos of my niece, Lienka, that always had me transfixed. What was she thinking of? I always get the impression she is one of the wise old souls amongst us. So needless to say the pressure was on to capture just that and I trust the viewer will feel it to. That far away, problem solving sort of thought.

I have done many paintings of this gorgeous curly head child and have certainly sharpened my hair painting abilities through doing her portraits.
