Violin Lesson 1

Oil on stretched canvas

Size: 60 x 80 x 4 cm (unframed)

This painting of a little girl from Soweto, South Africa, learning to play the violin has finally made it off the easel at Solett ART. I got to indulge some of my favourite subject matters, MUSIC and PORTRAITS in a single painting, and is part of a collection of paintings around this theme.

I can recall my own, beginner violin lessons at school and I must have had a similar amount confusion and concentration mixed into one expression. This photo was taken at the famous Buskaid Soweto String Music School (www.buskaid.org.za), and was kindly donated to me for this purpose of doing these paintings by the very talented Graham de Lacy(www.grahamdelacy.com)

This painting is unframed and can be displayed as is. All my paintings flow over the edge of the canvas, meaning the image does not finish at the edge of the canvas, so you get a bit more!

20% OF PROFITS WILL BE DONATED TO THE BUSKAID SOWETO STRING PROJECT
